First, you will need to conduct a Literature Review and look back over all of the sources you have used in your research in order to identify the most relevant, salient, and supportive scholarly sources. Next, you will need to synthesize those selected scholarly sources. This synthesis will involve comparing and contrasting the methods, political science theories, results and conclusions of those sources, evaluating the sources to determine which are the most plausible and compelling, and then linking your research topic to the synthesis you performed. Then, you will need to demonstrate clearly how your research differs from past research in terms of innovativeness and originality. The second section of your work this week involves convincing your readers that your research design/methods choice is the most appropriate choice for your research topic. The Literature Review you conducted will be very helpful here as you can explain how prior research designs/methods were used in a similar way, were methodically sound, and could be applied to your research topic. Use the research designs/methods of past studies to support the decision you make on which research design/methods you select.
