Teacher training should magnify strengths and produce teachers who differ greatly. Celebrate your uniqueness! You may offer children what others cannot. Your weakness may be another’s strength, their weakness your strength. Feel middle of the road in everything? The middle of the road may provide stability, safety, familiarity, and comfortable homeyness. However, all teachers MUST be knowledgeable about and sensitive to the cultural milestones related to children’s development and children’s awareness of attitudes about race and culture.1-Discuss the cultural milestones related to children’s development and share two ways to become more culturally sensitive.2-Describe two culturally appropriate experiences for young children that respect their differences in perceiving and understanding the world.
