In Chapter 8 you read about Conflict in Teams specifically, the 3 types of Conflict (Relationship, Task and Process) were presented to you as well as some management approaches. When you read, on page 200, that “ . . there was not a significant negative relationship between task conflict and group performance, suggesting that task conflict is not detrimental to team performance.”, did this come as a surprise to you? Why do you think, based on your reading and experience, that task conflict has less negative impact on group performance than relationship conflict?
