Since we did not cover the statistical aspect of the concepts in depth during Week 1, I focused more on the logic you used and the outline of your work. As a result, you earned full score for your logic and attempt of Question 12. For Questions 2 and 8, you did not calculate the MAD correctly based on the instructions I provided in the Recording for the Live WebEx announcement. Specifically, your response did not show the error values for each period, and for Question 8, you did not do both a 3 week and 4 week average. Additionally, for Question 2 and 8, you could have used Solved Problem #1 as a guide. This resulted in a loss of 5 points on Question 2 and 10 points on Question 8. Let me know if you have any questions. DellPROFESSOR’S SECOND REVIEWBryan, the homework was based on the material in Chapter 14 and you could have used the examples in Figures 14-5 through Figure 14-15 along with the Solved Problem examples. That being said, you got question 8 correct and you did have some missteps on Questions 4, 13, and 14. On question 4, based on the BOM, Part A-B will need 8 Fs under part B plus 4 Fs under Part A-C-F, plus 48 Fs under Part A-C-D-F. This multiplied by the required 15 Part As would mean a total of 900 Part Fs. If part D is purchased then only Part C is needed which would be 4 Fs * 15 = 60 Fs. As a result, you lost 3 points. For questions 13 and 14, you needed to build out the MRP records. Since you did not provide your calculations, I could not tell where you went wrong. On question 13, it appeared that your calculations in Week 1 for scheduled receipt, available inventory, and net requirements were not done correctly which compounded for the following weeks. These missteps led to a loss of 5 points. For question 14, there were also a couple of missteps. First, your calculations with part A sets the cadence for the rest of the MRP records. Second, the following MRP records build off the BOM from the prior record. For, example, since Part C requires 4 for each part A, then the Gross requirements for Part C would be 4 times the planned order releases for part A. You would then need to take the same format for Parts D & E. Your scheduled receipts, available inventory, net requirements, planned order receipts and releases for Part A were not accurately calculated which in turn led to your other calculations being incorrect. You also did not build out the other sub-assembly sections for Part A; i.e., Parts C, D, and E. This resulted in a loss of 7 points.
