The treatment they receive as a young adult will affect how them looking for help as an older adult. As a social worker, I need to provide the best support and be aware of the challenges of LGBTQ+ safe. In the podcast, they discussed topics that I would have not thought negatively affected the LGBTQ+ community. For instance, end of life treatment, they might not have the same treatment as a heterosexual person. It was interesting to listen to and get a better idea of what challenges a client may face.  The text, The NASW Policy Statement on Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Issues” states that NASW is committed to advancing policies and practices that will improve the status and well-being of all lesbian, gay, and bisexual people” (Zastrow, 2019).
